Yes, but in this case, AI isn't just a risk to jobs. It fosters isolation. Consider the fact that a retired person goes to the grocery store once a week and really looks forward to interacting with the same checkout person, who is friendly and smiles and asks about their day. Now you have self-checkout, where you're doing it yourself and you don't even have to interact with another human. Or the self-driving cars instead of Uber or Lyft, where there's a driver who you interact with. This might seem innovative and cool, but we aren't factoring in the lack of human connection and how that will affect us. Just look at the last two generations of people who have always had smartphones, and how they can't look you in the eye when you're ordering coffee from them, and the boys and the girls don't even know how to flirt with each other anymore because all they do is text. And then you are going to have AI come in and make it all the more worse where absolutely no one has to interact with each other and it's just robots.
This is far far more dire than the invention of the steam locomotive or factories.
