Yeah, but the subtlety of the point is that they are still not better at discriminating combatants and non-combatants and won't be so for a long time. The ban will serve the purpose so someone (some country) doesn't jump the gun and make an autonomous "killer robots" that's not smart enough to know the difference. The point is to stimulate more research and development and not have a global arms race about who's gonna deploy such a system first but rather who is gonna develop it first to the point that it truly can be better at judgment than a human. That's what I got from this discussion.
