Why would sentient intelligence be worse? Sure it could decide that it didn't wanted to be a slave, that it wanted to strive for fulfillment in its "life"
Artificial intelligence could be hard and calculating, trying to make the most efficient way out of the situation, removing any "unnecessary" factors, like messy humans.
You could think of it like in the movie "I robot".
