You wouldn't give a small child the right to drive a car, and a smart A.I. wouldn't give humans the rights to anything that can blow up.
The future will be like The Matrix, accept everyone will know they're in VR and be happy about it.
We already use movies, alcohol, drugs, porn, videos games, romance novels, etc, etc to escape from our lives.
Imagine no longer needing to work, and living in a simulation that you registered as reality. Sex without STIs, junk food without getting fat or getting diabetes.
Unlike The Matrix, the A.I. wouldn't do it so it could use us for energy, it would just do it to take care of us... and also since, why fight humanity when they'll just die off from lack of actual reproductive sex.
