It’s a tool. Just like any other. It allows someone with little artistic talent to make something beautiful. I guarantee you, though, it won’t replace human made art. People still buy handmade leather wallets, even when a factory made one is so much cheaper and more accessible.
Most of a work’s value is it’s beauty, yes, but what you’re paying for, and what you’re admiring is the result of a human spending hours painting or drawing or sculpting.
AI art is a novelty. Amazing, too. The code itself is practically a piece of art in and of itself. But AIs are only as good as their creator. And while it will improve, yes, someone, a whole team of people even, need to actually review the content it’s generating. People who have experience in what is good and bad graphic design.
As an artist, I think it’s a wonderful tool. Just that — a tool. I even use it sometimes to try and figure out how I want a drawing to look.
It may be cutting down on jobs, but, in the end, all advancements in technology do that.
