I don't know if this guy uses AI as a tool to assist in the artistic process, or if he is just a guy with no knowledge nor talent who uses AI to generate art that he had no part in creating from an artistic place. You see, the problem with your argument and many others is that you assume because it's AI, then there is no way it could be his art, but you would be incorrect because it actually depends on several factors, including this person's ability to creatively imagine a piece of art and then has enough knowledge of art to be able to truly use AI only to assist - a tool to be used just like any other. Stop and think for a moment and ask yourself just WHERE does art and talent lay? Is it in the hands? The soul? The mind? Are you saying that a quadriplegic can't be an artist because they can't use their hands? Think of what AI can do as a tool to the artist trapped inside a body they can't move. Every creative thought and knowledge of art that person possesses can find its way to the canvas via the use of a computer and AI. Think on this -- when cameras were invented and people started using it as an artistic tool, painters were in an uproar -- their argument: "people making so-called art with a camera were not making art at all because all they really had to do was point a machine towards a subject and click, then voila, like magic a picture appears. Painters were using the same arguments you use only against art photographers. And in reality, they weren't completely wrong because it certainly is possible for anyone to take a picture and accidentally create something nice enough to call art when they had no creative thought, talent, or knowledge to actually create photographic art. Anyone who knows anything about art will tell you that art starts within the individual's mind, heart, and soul, and they then use the knowledge of a particular medium to render that art. What you are losing your mind over is only the rendering of the art, not the art itself. I would have to know this person's process to know if he is an actual artist or just some schmuck who pointed a camera and clicked a button. I've been a traditional artist for forty years and a graphic designer and digital artist for over twenty. I use everything from pencil to paint to pixels, using software I took years learning to use and a heap load of education as an art major in order to render my own art from my mind, my heart, my soul. In some of that art, I use AI, and I use it the same way I use a brush, a pencil, an eraser, a camera, and a computer. If you believe that it isn't possible to create art using the tool of AI, then that tells me that you probably aren't an artist and have never discovered the usefulness of AI and how you have to learn how to use it as a tool to truly create your vision exactly as you see it. Art starts in the imagination, and from that place, it has to pass through a lot of hoops requiring knowledge, skill, and talent. AI does not preclude these things, but just like the schmuck just pointing a camera and calling it art, AI can be misused to let people who are not artists simulate a type of art -- just like that camera. So, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater, shall we?
