What worries me most is not the issue of sentient AI, but Google's apparently dismissive and cavalier attitude towards such matters.
This guy clearly knows what he's talking about. AI is such a powerful tool that must be handled with the highest level of care, responsibility and ethics - You don't just fire your technicians when they bring a serious issue to your attention and then hope the issue goes away...WTF!!? There are enough examples in history to show us that when a corporation ignores the warnings of its own engineers, things usually don't turn out for the best. This is very worrying!
