Tech Bros have underlying plan. Perhaps the real thrill in accumulating wealth isn't the money but the power it gives. AI will give power to surveil, manipulate, control. They might have an idea that they can create a jobless society where everyone is looked after, like Star Trek, and that makes them feel better about themselves. But they'll want the control, that's their buzz. They might be thinking they'll provide a benevolent dictatorship, facilitated by AI. But nobody will be free, all will be required to add value. If you don't add value, what then? If there are limited resources, or the Tech Bros want these for themselves, perhaps they'll control population? The trouble with AI is that it provides an amazing tool to sociopaths. Never mind that sociopaths can be impulsive and may let AI run out of control.
