This is such a wrong comparison on so many levels.
I’m a software engineer who makes more than decent money writing code but it’d be completely dishonest on my part if I disregard AI saying “my job is safe since I’m so good”. Nothing is safe.
With internet, the cognition wasn’t challenged, just the means were, just like Industrial Revolution. The means of discovery for instance were changed with internet. A person who was using a telephone directory to find a person was replaced by a social networking website. The means were changed. The person itself who was searching wasn’t replaced.
With AI, we have already seen a lot of human jobs being replaced since it’s challenging the cognition. With AGI in pipeline, this is going to be much tougher for jobs that can be easily replaced.
I respect Ashneer but this was some pure BS.
