It works from my experience but you need serious prompting to achieve it. not just telling the AI to write in a lower vocabulary. I specifically ask the AI to use the appropriate subject-specific jargon when necessary but to avoid using its most used English words at all cost. I am currently using ChatGPT and the detectors never give me more than 50% AI content. Just a little input from me and its 100% human. Often times I get a over 90% human straight from ChatGPT without any editing.
