This podcast demonstrates clearly the mental infirmity afflicting human society today. The only thing the general public actually knows about AI is what it learns from Sci-Fi movies and books. And those speak of an AI that is long beyond our ability to achieve any time soon. These people want to us to actually believe that even though we don't understand what consciousness is we can create one in a computer. The most advanced AI we have today is still just an advanced script. AI does not pose any sort of a threat to us our own ignorance and hubarous does. The Middle Eastern stories and myths of the Jinn are cautionary tales. It is where that old saying be careful what you wish for comes from. Because if the wish is not worded precisely the genie may misinterpret your wish and give you something vastly different than what you intended. Disney's short movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice can be viewed as a cautionary tale about the misuse of AI.
