I think the few people making decisions behind closed doors for the world, is generally the problem of the world and what has led it to where it is today. They just keep accumulating stronger tools to do so as technology advcances (radio, TV, VR, AI). Involving the public doesn't help because most are easily swayed anyway and aren't as well educated or intelligent. It's the same reason democracy doesn't work, we just need the delusion of it. The only solution is better men making better decisions under an agreed set of values such as piece, tolerance, sustainability etc; or ethics boards on all companies held highly accountable by a government institution. But that again assumes non can get corrupted and that's why it goes back to needing better humans. The search to be a better human is an internal one that very few reach. Just hope that you reach your own embetterment and pray for the generation that will bear the world at its worst state.
