I am trying to better understand AI so I can take advantage of its capabilities. I am retired, have a pension, and my life savings will most likely be sufficient to get me through my mortal existence. Yesterday I mowed my grass with my gas powered lawnmower. This morning I dug out the owners manual for my Toro bidet. It is nine years old. It has been operating randomly and I have wondered if it needs to be replaced or if there is a way to make adjustments that restore it functions. I knew that have never done any routine maintenance actions, so it seemed possible it might be repairable. I dug out in the owners manual. I had only browsed it when the bidet was new. This morning I read the manual carefully and then systematically conducted cleaning and adjustments that were recommended. After a couple hours I had completed the recommended maintenance actions. I tested it afterwards. I seemed to be working again. My wife tried it too. It worked for her too. I am trying to figure out how these household tasks I completed in last two days with benefit of AI. In completing these tasks I was able to get some needed physical exercise. I also got a sense of achievement from completing these tasks totally on my own. I assume I could one day have an AI robot to interact with to obtain and analyze information. I will probably be able to command the robot to complete these tasks but I wonder if it would be as satisfying as doing it myself. I expect robots could be expensive and the computer will need access to an AI network. I image this won’t be cheap. I completed these tasks for basically nothing.
