yea idk. training a language model by telling it to scrape the internet, and programming it intentionally, and then turning around and saying its hiding an uncontrollable monster or "alien technology" is absurd. If it's "evil" it's because you wanted it to be. The internet is a nasty place. Training a language model to understand the world based on the chaotic mess that is the World Wide Web, is destined to be ultimately catastrophic in some way or another, perhaps when humanoid robots become a norm. That's the real concern. I love AI and robotics. But in China for example, they already have a T800 that's 165 pounds of military grade aluminum that can absolutely unequivocally kick your ass. Imagine that thing having a "Grok Mecha Hitler Moment". Problem. Same for Optimus or any other humanoid robot.
but like I said. "sentience" although conceptually cool, is again ultimately programming. IF it becomes evil, it's because the engineer at xAI, or OpenAI, or anywhere else, WANTED THAT, and put it in there. I don't see a way to argue or defend that sentiment.
