5:20 i'm an artist who gets mad at ai art. there are a few reasons. first off, it gives me the creeps. i want to appreciate real art made by real people with real intentiom and effort, and ai art just gives me such strong uncanny valley that it sometimes makes me feel sick. second, he's kinda right, it's similar enough to actual art that sometimes it's hard to tell. so it feels like i'm constantly being lied to. if i'm looking at or reading something heartfelt and meaningful, only to find out it wasn't either of those things, i'm going to feel like an idiot for being fooled and angry because i fell for a lie. also, depending on the situation, i will feel angry because someone i trust lied to me. third, it's so effortless. people who just use ai and call themselves "artists" have no idea about the actual knowledge and skills you need to make art on the level that ai imitates. i truly believe that anything can be art, if there's intention behind it, and that does include stuff that uses ai as a tool. but most of it is slop and real artists at that level can tell that things are off that shouldn't be. if you make art, you're an artist, but if you just put prompts into a machine and it spits out slop, that isn't art. stop saying you're as skilled as us when you didn't bother to work for the skills we had to learn over years of our lives. also, several times i've had people try to compliment me by saying my art looks like ai. this is not a compliment. they might be trying to tell me it looks really good but what i hear is that it looks like i didn't put all the effort into it that i did, and like i'm a liar with no actual skill. finally... it's so opposite my personal experience of art, and that of a lot of other artists. i don't make art to simply have art in my possession. the challenge is what's fun about it. i draw because i like drawing. if you skip the actual fun part... what? that's like having a machine eat your dessert for you.
