Autopilot, fondly called George in aircraft has been around since 1912. I started flying in 1974 at Buttonville airport, which was outside Toronto at that time and George was available in the Piper 140 and 150 at that time. Autopilot in aircraft was meant to be an assistant to the pilot not a replacement. I like Tesla's use of that term and it should be extended to incorporate what is now called fsd and until true fully automated driving is available, autopilot is a good name but not full self driving.
