My only use for AI art.. is to assign meaning onto the blank canvas that is 'already generated ai shit'. There's no story behind AI art.. so I find value in creating stories around the images. Something without a soul can be filled with meaning. Such is my life. I spent most of my life without a reason to live, without a reason to keep going. Assigning arbitrary meaning is shit, and just because "AI cyber-futuristic woman with tons of modifications" exists doesn't make it have meaning. So I use AI art to represent the internal states I feel which I myself cannot bring into art. I can draw, I can create my own art... but I felt soulless most of my life... so I lack the skills to CURRENTLY depict my internal states. It's sorta like memes. If I say "It's Free Real Estate", that's a shared memory we on the internet from that timeframe made. "Do u kno da wae" and an emotion swirls up. AI art does not make me think, it makes me feel.. something. It's not a like a commentary on the state of the world... but it's an internal story I can tell myself. Like beginning a sentence with "Once upon a time, there was a modern wereshark, wearing formal attire." and my brain creates a story out of nowhere which only I could write for myself. The emotions I would feel were I that character. If there is no soul behind art, if there is no specific intention or meaning that was intended, you're free to explore.. not the art, but yourself. And that, to me... feels like freedom. Now, that being said, I do not condone the usage of AI nor do I like every AI image. But some resonate with me... for reasons I can explore. I've learned the shape of my own soul from interacting with soulless media. It somehow... helped me become .. me. And that is the only value I can pull out of AI imagery.
