I learned about China's AI laws when people talked about the Voice Actor strikes - Chinese, non-union games were struck on the pretense that AI protections for actors were needed, when in reality, they had already been in place well before the strike started. All this was for was blackmailing chinese game companies into joining an american union....meanwhile the game studios already made sure their actors wouldn't be replaced by AI.
