Out of curiosity, what do you think of grammar checking software that was created through training on likely billions of authors?
What about YouTube music that remixes songs in ways no official IP owner would ever do? I would argue some of these works are legitimately transformative and don't replace any of the songs being mixed.
I think using AI to basically "trace" existing art is obviously a copyright violation with additional steps, but most of the best AI I've seen is essentially "remix" type works similar to mixing different musical tracks. These remixes would likely never exist without AI. Intellectual property law isn't a natural right. It exists to promote the creation of IP. Restricting AI remixes would do the opposite.
