Self-driving shared cars doesn't do anything for parking. It's an uber without a driver, that's it. We could do that now with ubers, but we don't. Self-driving will only change habits if we all own them and dont share them. Your car can drop you off, then go to a lot or back home, then come get you. That would eliminate the need for parking, and to me the biggest benefit of them. But if we think ridesharing is going to change cities.... taxis aren't new.
The same applies to the train lines you discuss. Driving to the station, then your car returning home to pick you up later, makes stations with no parking more useful. Ownership of them is key. Sharing is just inconvenient and most people dont want to put up with that.
