Over time, they started to back-engineer the crashed craft, and one intelligent being who had survived the crash lived nearby in a cave with some still working quantum holographic technology. This intelligent being later assisted with technological development and had a plan of its own to influence technological advancement by helping the natives to craft AI and nanobots that would help with every day workings on all levels of society. However, it was soon revealed that this intelligent being had a hidden agenda. The being was actually part of an advanced species, known as 8472, who were interested in using the natives' technological advancements to survive on this planet. They used governments to blindly lead the natives to a diminished race and the development of the AI and nanobots were all part of a ruse to ensure the survival of the advanced species. As time passed, the natives became more dependent on the technology and began to lose touch with their traditional values and practices. They eventually became a shadow of their former selves and were at the mercy of the 8472 species who had infiltrated their society. It was a sad ending to what was once a promising race, as they had fallen victim to their own desire for technological advancement and were ultimately used by another species for their own survival.
