If the number of people losing jobs keeps increasing and number of people born keeps decreasing at a pace that when AGI automates everything and the society is the right number of people, then yea we could have a society where the people don't need to work and can be happy, ryt?
I don't think so, what do you expect people to do? just look after children, have sex, watch tv, etc. all day? People need more than that, and with all that time on hand, they will eventually want more. This is human nature, even the rich always want more.
So I don't believe there will be any semblance of a positive outcome from AGI automating the world. If it grows our crops, processes them, prepares food, create the entertainment we watch, runs the electricity, protects us from threats, etc., then all we have is family and life is not jut about spending 24x7 with family.
Ask yourself this: don't there exist people for whom everything is not about family? Look at the rich and geniuses, they are the best examples of people for whom family is not everything (in some cases, family is nothing). Rich are not rich because of the power of family. Family is nice, but humans always want more.
