We humans are good at pointing fingers "they" but it's really all of us that have put us here, we incentivize greed by wanting our stocks or 401k's to grow, wall street just complies in finding ways of being more profitable. The civilization we've built is now showing signs of its fundamental growth flaws and if you think universal income is the answer then you also believe in perpetual motion.
I do see a silver lining to all of this, the more mistrust technology creates the more we will need and want human to human interactions.
