the ONLY hope commercial artists have is that AI art will never be as good as humans. at which point, they can lower their pitchforks and torches... they have nothing to worry about. if that's not true, then, like with most technological revolutions, lots of people lower on the totem pole will lose their jobs. "labor" will be made redundant with the only people left being the people making the high level decisions. i believe it's unlikely that AI will generate interesting prompts and actually create anything worthy by themselves... but then again, we were swilling slop long before AI got here so i'm sure AI slop with little human moderation will find its place too.
