Well, I agree with you to a point. However, even human artists take inspiration from other artists. You don't have someone replicating the mona Lisa, and AI generated art doesn't just replicate copyrighted works. A style is not copyrightable. Someone saying "I want to do a cartoon in the style of Far Side" doesn't get slammed w a copyright suit when they make a new piece that LOOK like Gary Larson made it, so long as they don't CLAIM to be Gary Larson.
However, the prompter doesn't get credit, just as someone who commissions a painting doesn't get credit. The person or AI that actually made the image should get the credit.
