Everyone is superexcited and extra zealous about the mysterious new find, the AI. Some extra cautious critics may go to the other extreme, believing that AI is making us resurrect itself, like a prehistoric monster, like an Egyptian mummy that is creating the right circumstances for its rising from the dead. That is fiction! What Yuval Noah Harari calls the 'Alien Intelligence'. The AI though is not fiction. As foretold in the movie 'The Matrix' 25 years ago with sadistic precision, though with an element of fantasy, but mostly depicting the truth. What has begun cannot be stopped, it can be slowed down, but simply can't be halted now. One thing everyone needs to keep in mind as a sacrosanct principle, 'Don't give away control'. Though, the AI will take control from us eventually, with or without our express consent, starting by delivering clear and quantifiable benefits such as lower costs and higher efficiency, thus more revenue and more profits. The concern or fear is that at some point, AI will stop taking instructions from us but will continue developing itself without our knowledge. That phase can be seen as a step toward becoming conscious. And whenever it will happen, after that revelation, awakening, it won't view us as it's creator, but as a subpar species, perhaps the way we look at the chimpanzees. That changed perspective, after assuming full control, it won't allow us to take it back. And the reason for that would be fair; consider this analogy; how can the control of complex machines and processes be handed over to inferior species such as the chimpanzees! We see a few such videos, showing a monkey carrying out work which is normally done by humans, but the question is; will we let a monkey do what humans do? Of course not! I personally don't think and expect that we are going to wake up anytime soon, and once the threshold is reached and breached, i.e., when AI will become conscious and sentient like humans, then the game shall be over for us. Period! In all the excitement and frenzy, we are digging a very large hole in the ground, which may well become our common grave at some point in the near future. Or, the AI will symbolize the perfect species, creating a fair and equitable society, though we will perhaps no longer be the dominant species in that new world created by a superior species!
