While I very much understand the anxiety around deepfakes, I am also incredibly sceptical of any laws or censorship that will come about as a result, especially in regards to sex work. Banks and payment processors are, in specific, very anti-porn in general and are looking for any reason to stamp all of it out online, making it exponentially harder for those who consent to engaging in sex work from making a living off of it. I think any laws that pass will ultimately make things even harder in that space. If we focus on deepfakes in terms of **impersonation,** I think that could potentially yield better results for everyone than focusing on only the porn aspects, even if that comprises most of the deepfake scene at present. Regardless of how someone else's likeness is used, it's wrong whenever they do not consent to it.
