Piracy isn't theft, AI art isn't theft. Theft implies you're making the original object unavailable to the original owner.
With that, I'm not saying it's thus morally justified... I'm a "traditional" digital artist, and very skeptical of AI art. But calling it theft is just definitionally wrong.
And it's the same argument that falsely is used to demonize piracy, which mainly benefitted the big media companies like Disney and the likes.
