Shad do seem to have the ego of his books MC, I don't like that story, I don't like the main characters, but failed at his first book?! That's a bit of an overstatement... I do actually like the world he build, and the reasoning behind, and creative uses of the tech in his book, and so I listened to his audiobook twice now.
As for AI art... I've seen good arguments for and against AI art, ultimately I don't think the technology is evil or theft, although it can be be used for good and evil, just like a knife, or a gun, it's a powerful tool. The introduction of the tech may have been done the worst possible way by unscrupulous people who deserve the outrage/lawsuits. That being said like it or not AI art isn't going anywhere, so I'd encourage artists to use it to their advantage instead of complaining...
