These kinds of people don't seem to understand that art is a skill cultivated over years of practice. I was absolute dog shit at art, but I spent years practicing and improved significantly. When I look at my art from middle or high school, there is a huge difference in the skill. Even now, I have a wrist injury that will not ever heal, and it's slowly getting worse over time. Basically I got bit by a brown recluse, and the venom ate through my muscles and tendons because I didn't respond to the first round of medications, and the doctors didn't take me seriously until I started losing all function of my entire arm. Now I deal with constant shooting pain from my wrist down into my fingers, my hand will randomly go numb, I'll experience severe and uncontrollable muscle spasms, and my hand will completely lock up, sometimes for hours. On top of all that, it's my dominant hand. Despite all that, I still pick up a pencil and draw, I've filled countless sketchbooks to the point I've run out of space to put them. And even though I hate my art from when I was younger, I refuse to get rid of those sketchbooks because I can SEE the improvement I've made. I wasn't born with the talent to draw, but I spent time improving my skill because it's something I love to do. And on top of that, my best friend also loves to draw. My boyfriend is the DM of our D&D sessions, and he loves that we sketch out scenes from our campaigns. Sometimes it's just scribbled and messy sketches that we made during the session, and other time it's full comic bits done in our own free time about our characters. My boyfriend says it brings life into the campaigns and makes it so that he can physically see a visualization of something he made up in his head, and really breathes life into the story. AI is damaging to artists because it exploits them by STEALING their art without any profit or credit to the artists who made the art that AI programs take. I spent years developing my skill, I shouldn't have to worry about someone who is too lazy to pick up a pencil and learn how to draw because they think it's too hard or too much work
