It sounds far away, but believe me it's not far at all. And if capitalism stays capitalism, any technology can be sold. Think about it, they sell even atomic bombs. Why wouldn't they sell AI inputs ? People just want money at the end.
Someone could argue that the government would restrict that, but I doubt it they would restrict completely. Maybe it would start off as only allowing sells of "languages translators", and then who knows it would maybe evolve into "calculators" allowed now, or "anything except for creations blablbalbla " And so on ... Future is scary folks
