That pro-AI argument completely discounts the work and effort involved in refining a skill. Not a talent, a SKILL. No one comes out of the womb with the pre-downloaded ability to create intricately detailed images. It is something that you work at and learn and develop as a SKILL. Just like you aren't born with the ability to read and then just wait to be old enough for it to activate, you have to learn the symbols and associate them with sounds and meaning. With art you have to learn how to manipulate shape, color, shade, etc. etc. and put in effort to control that skill to produce a desired image. It is not JUST an innate, genetic ability that some people have and are "gatekeeping" from artistic paupers. Art is not something you are born into, it is something you yourself carve out and LABOR at. Too many people try to draw or paint or sculpt or whatever and if they don't get the result they want the first time, they decide that it's something they just are not capable of, rather than looking at the thing, saying, "that's not what I was going for, what can I change to get closer to what I wanted," and developing that ability. I didn't genetically inherit my father's ability to draw. He encouraged (and sometimes demanded of) me to work at it, learn and grow. These people give up and say it's someone else's fault and they just can't and resent those who have DONE THE WORK, then call it gatekeeping or tyranny. Artists are not, like an actual tyrant would, withholding from you the ability to make and take ownership of art for yourself, YOU who decided to give up have taken your artistic expression away from yourself. Art is one of the MOST SUBJECTIVE THINGS IN EXISTENCE. There is no gene for good art that some people have and some people don't because there's not really a such thing as GOOD art or BAD art other than art that is hollow of meaning and effort. And AI art is ABSOLUTELY hollow of effort, even if you pumped your deepest feelings, dreams and desires into an AI engine, you still did not MAKE anything. I am not better than anyone just because I can draw. All that difference in ability means is that I did not give up, I will not give up learning and growing and expressing my existence through art.
