Going back 50 years there were concerns about robots taking over the world. I remember the old movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still where a human like alien comes to earth to warn us about AI. In his planet robots had to be developed to maintain control over everyone. He tries to warn the people that humans cannot be trusted to do what is right and without external controls they will self-destruct.
