Do I believe that digital minds can be conscious? Yes. Do I believe that any current AI are conscious? No. Perhaps by some definition in the milliseconds when it it processes a new input, but any potential momentary consciousness is erased with each token generated. Consciousness at a minimum requires persistent existence and change based on stimulus. This is just people finding a new religion. Religion is dead, long live religion.
