I doubt too many people will see this but I want to shed some light on how ai (or at least stable diffusion works) Another person shared the analogy of chef A (an artist) cooking a dish and chef B (an ai) stealing it and serving it as it’s own. But this isn’t quite how ai works . An better analogy would be chef A ,B, and C (the artist) all cook different dishes the chef D (the ai) comes along and looks at how they were made and the ingredients, then on its own dish it throws hundreds of random ingredients on the plate then it adds and removes ingredients till it looks similar to how the other chef dishes look and then serves it. This analogy isn’t perfect as in reality there are hundreds of other chefs and thousands of ingredients and hundreds of cycles but it is a simplified version of it. Now I want to make something clear I DO NOT THINK AI SHOILD TRAIN ON ARTWORK WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL ARTIST CONSENT. I simply want to clear the idea that it’s just a collage of images which it’s not. It did actually make the image just with HEAVY inspiration. I personally feel ai art generators aren’t evil but the the way they get their “inspiration” is.
