i just started tabling art markets and events last year, and i mostly draw fanart (ikik i need to shape up and do more original stuff lol) what's more disheartening to me too is that yes, bootleg stores selling ai art are everywhere but there are so many people who just *dont care* that it's ai generated and they get stuff bc it's cheaper than what artists are doing. a friend of mine said a kid came up to them asking what ai program they used to make their stuff, them saying they drew it themselves and the kid just "cool!" and walking away... people deceiving others with ai is awful, but *fans*, actual fans not caring that something is either fake or ai is the worst to me. but we keep on trucking lol i can live with putting the actual crazy fandom conversations in fancon, because ai doesnt build community, we do <3
