It's both crazy and not surprising at all that the vocal majority of those that defend the actions of AI developers are just power hungry futurists. They want to press the figurative gas peddle all the way down and see what happens, but what if we don't hit that utopia? Or that dreamed-of future? All we will be left with is the remains of a bad decision and a morally stunted civilization.
