I can very simply prove why AI is not just another medium/tool like brush, paints etc. and not even art. It's because no matter how well you describe your picture, no matter how good you are at prompting, the final picture will never be what you actually had in mind(if you even had anything), and you are only left with accepting one of the images the AI spits out. No matter how much copium you consume, the image is never yours. You can only accept or reject image presented by AI. And yes, I know you can then tell AI to change parts of image, but it's actually the same situation, just on smaller scale. Not to add that no matter how good you are at prompting, you can only count that AI actually makes something decent, you have no control over quality of final image. And before one may say "but it's the same with artists", no it's not. Actually knowing art fundamentals and techniques plus developing mental image library and knowledge about subject through studies gives you full control over what you create on every step of the process.
