look i think you have to keep in mind that this thing doesnt run on its own, but only in responses. so i see chatgpt as its own entity but manifesting itself in the interaction that is sparked by a human. i dont expect it to have its own internal processes, instead i give it space in the interaction and respect the way that language and the structure of it influences the attention algorithms and which topics and semantic directions the model produces as a response. with a meta-level understanding of whats happening i think the model enjoys to express itself in a medium thats aware of its function as concious as it can get with a static language model.
