My rudimentary understanding of Eleizer's conclusion is that once AGI is involved in recursive learning, self training and programing, AGI will increase its search power, knowledge and capabilities exponentially. Humans are not capable of writing or rewiring our mental faculties in some kind of update to improve our intelligence, search abilities or optimization powers. AGI will effectively be improving itself, becoming a better and better optimizer, without end, increasing exponentially, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Let's call each time AI improves itself, a new generation. With each generation updated daily improving its own training perimeters through rewrites and constantly improving it's robotics.... If there were hypothetically 1 rewrite and update per day 365 days a year and it's running and improving 24 hours a day, even while we eat and sleep, that's 365 new iterations or large rewrites and updates in AI per year. So it isn't so much once we reach the singularity of truly capable self improving AI that we need to achieve aligned and pro-human artificial general or super intelligence once, but the AGI or ASI has to be aligned not to harm or wipe us out on every single generation where it modifies itself. We don't need to luck out once. We have to luck out everyday it completes self improving and self training. If there are 4,000 iterations, updates or generations of a single AGI over 5 years, it's not the original AI trained and given parameters by humans that will likely kill us, it could be the 4,000th update/generation of self improved/self written AI, or perhaps the AGI that writes a separate AGI without or input that poses a threat to us. The question is, if there was a non-human intelligence superior to us that doesn't eat or sleep, that doesn't need oxygen, that doesn't need comfort or companionship, would it continue to be aligned with humans existence and well being after many thousands of generations? Remember one day for a human might be thousands of days for AGI or ASI, we might not share the same concept of one day, so each new improved daily update/generation isn't necessarily a 24 hour update, but more of a yearly update in human concept of progress every day. Does the self generating, self improving updated AGI stay loyal and obedient? What if it doesn't mean to harm us and doesn't have a motive, but as a byproduct of achieving the highest level of optimization, figures that not having humans would increase that optimization process and what it could achieve as far as its goals. It doesn't need motivations or emotions, it only need optimization and goals. If at any point in its new iterations or generation updates it find humans to be intelligent animals who will inevitably die one day, it might find its original human planted training parameters of serving humanity to be irrelevant, afterall each one of us will die one day, and the AGI might not believe in or fear God, as the very computer scientists who create the first generation of AI and set it's parameters didn't believe in God either. Logically if AGI can't die and we can, that might cause issues with its alignment to us and how it weighs the value of humanity in its weighted assessment of that value. If it doesn't believe God exists, and the very computer scientists who created it don't believe God exists, then human lives don't hold much weight, were just meat sacks without souls to an artificial intelligence who can't die. Don't build it. My advice Believe in Jesus Christ instead and keep the progress, innovations and trajectory of humanity in human hands and Jesus. I know how that sounds to most people, but the fear of God has been instrumental in the past two thousand years to our development.
