If nothing but luxury goods for the rich becomes profitable, because they are the only people with money, who is going to make the rest of the stuff? Like the masses still need food, toilet paper, soap and what not. but if they don't bring in profit because people can no longer afford them, what's the point producing them? It's like "people are no longer buying this stuff as much as before and our profits are down, so we gotta make it cheaper, so we gotta lay off more people to make the same (or preferably more) profit, but now those people are part of the people no longer buying stuff, so we gotta make stuff cheaper again". Repeat the cycle. Is the solution that all cheap bulk goods and food are produced by government owned robot factories in the future while the luxury items targetting the wealthy are domain of the private companies? I mean food production is already heavily government subsidied. Even if that's the case where does the money come from? You would have to tax the rich significantly more than now if most of the population is without anything but government income. Would money even have much value at that point? If governments just print money out of thin air and distribute it to people. The reason why money works now is because it has perceived value which is largely based on trust. What I suspect happens is what someone else said in the comments. There comes a point when it's cheaper to just use human serfs rather than spend money on expensive AI stuff and automation - because the only thing that actually has value at that point is material wealth rather than money. It's not like businesses and business owners have our best interest in mind. They are out to make the lives of their owners better.
