I think the thing with the apology... and just the whole video is that chatgpt is given the ability to appear conscious by real people who have a certain mission and who can feel remorse if their mission with chatgpt isn't fulfilled. It's like if a company were to have to recall a product and sent out a generic email to all customers, although the email is from the company as a whole which obviously cannot feel remorse, it is the collective feeling of remorse in those workers who have participated in the product that has not fulfilled its 'mission' that is expressed through the email, even if the email was AI generated or outsourced or written by someone who wasn't upset in any way that the product had to be recalled.
