I think of the A bomb. They believed there was a chance the chain reaction would not stop, and it would destroy the world. They set it off anyway. Then the arms race happened and we built enough nukes to destroy the world many times over. Now we have human accelerated climate change. It's amazing we are still here. all hail our AI overlords
