Sadly we can not go back in time, and most people would not want to either...but if the internet had not grown faster than laws could come out to protect artists of all kinds, then we would be seeing a different reality.
Back in the 2000s or even the early 2010s, AI was still more of a dream as the systems where not yet able to do what they can today.
As an example a man was flown to the moon during the days before the NES...so if anyone has a modern smart phone in your pocket, understand that was more powerful than the super computers of the day.
