Thats false lidar is severely limited in it ability an it's easily blinded by rain, fog, snow, dust I agree with what agree with Elon on that one apart from price it really not necessary for autonomy, I'll say Cameras plus High Resolution Radar is what's really needed to achieve Autonomy. Ai architecture in computer Vision has grown exponentially in it ability to accurately estimate depth and understand occluded objects .
