The problem isn't being replaced by AI, the problem is that the current market is heavily saturated with developers due to years of hype campaign. There's also a long line of CS and Comp Eng undergrads who are going to get absolutely killed when they enter the job market and find out that the market has less need for them than before.
SWE as a job won't die. But they'll be less in demand and because of how the last few years have been for the market, I suspect millions of new CS degree holders are going to have a really really hard timd
