A couple of decades ago the Silicon Valley tech bros promised us that social media would transform the world for the better. They were half right. Social media has transformed the world. Only not for the better. It has alienated people from each other, debased our culture, turned politics into a cesspool, flooded the zone with disinformation, eroded democracy and facilitated totalitarianism. And it turned the bros into billionaires many times over. Now they're promising us that AI will transform the world for the better. Again, they're half right.....
