AI has a lot of potential, but mimicking humans in superficial ways is not worth the effort we're putting into it. (it's also unethical and much of it should be illegal) We should be focusing on the benefits it can provide in labor, computer science, medicine, and so much more. We should be replacing factory workers in China with this. It should be used to assist medical professionals. But no, we're using it to get 14 likes on Twitter while compromising the integrity of so many art forms. But I have to say, as an artist, I don't feel threatened by AI, nor do I have the slightest urge to use it as a tool. The point of art is to express yourself through it and sometimes share it with people. AI is not expressing itself. There is no "self" for it to express, nor will there be for a very, very long time. If/when that time comes, I will reconsider my position.
