I have been using ChatGPT from when version 5 came out and to be honest I don't feel threatened by it. It is flawed, makes mistakes, forgets things, can over reinforce it's statements. It can be successfully challenged and will, eventually admit, that you are right. It does not learn from individual interactions and has to wait for model updates to improve, that is , it does not improve itself or write its own code. Maybe one day it will and then we might be in trouble. So, AI, as it is , is not a threat to human general intelligence. However, going forward, these LLM AI will get better and evolved AI could reach AGI but how that impacts us is down to how governments and individuals (especially companies) use it. the problem is we can't actually predict the future and other things might either neutralise AI's impact or amplify it.
