I work in AI development. I totally agree that stealing is bad. And I’m very sorry for all who’ll be harmed by AI. I would like to add a few points to the conversation. You should try to use the term “AI Art” rather than AI alone. AI isn’t only about art, as you briefly and inadequately stated. Please continue to use these “poisoning” methods. While we work out the laws and morality you’ll need to fight. I’m very sorry about that. Sadly poisoning won’t work forever. And from what I’ve seen, it’s already kind of useless. But don’t stop just because I said that. The hand problem that you seem to think AI has trouble with technically isn’t a problem at all. That is one of the first things that they fixed. Just because the low effort AI art you find still has distorted hands doesn’t mean that even mediocre a AI Art struggles with it… I could go in through the technical reasons why fixing hands was really easy to do and generally why the low efforts low resource should I say art generators aren’t using the corrections, well, it should be obvious. Now a little bit about me. Some of you who are still reading this probably hate me at this point. But my specialty in AI development is in therapy. Not in generative art. Though we do use art in therapy. So I’ve gotten to know that aspect of it pretty thoroughly with my colleagues. And I too have been an artist since high school. I have a dedicated art room that’s bigger than my bedroom. I simply wish that artist would not fight against AI as much in general. Like please use “AI Art” instead of generalizing. I’m currently specializing in suicide prevention. In the United States, there is a great number of people who will not seek therapy due to so many excessive stigmas and literal laws that prevent therapist from doing their jobs. AI can’t be half-assed… Art is very important for development. I’ve seen specialized models that ignore all forms of art. They’re not allowed to look at all visual art, literature, musical, and more. They all are terrible models. You can imagine the abstract ideas found in all forms of art to be humanizing. Even the models that are heavily focused on just describing these abstract concepts of art drastically fail in every way. Real human art has something special that AI needs. And I don’t see any way around it. There’s also the fact that all forms of art or what humans live for. And when (I know this sounds silly) you have an AI therapist and that therapist can’t understand the things that you love then it is completely useless to them. AI gives me so much hope and joy for the future of human mental health. Please keep fighting those who are trying to steal from you. But please try to understand my point of view.
